If i only drink one glass of wine a night but i am alone and it is with dinner, is that alcoholism?

They say if you drink alone the that is a sign, but I like to open a bottle of red wine and have a glass or sometimes 2 or 3 while I eat dinner and watch a movie by myself. Why must someone be with me in the room if I am still going to drink the same amount if they are there or not for it to be acceptable?

It does not sound like alcoholism. It sounds like a person who likes to be alone and enjoy a glass of red wine, which is very good for you. However, alcoholism is an addiction. How would you react if you had a non-alcoholic beverage with your dinner? If you can not handle the concept of trying another beverage for dinner, it could be possible you have an addiction. Again, it does not sound like alcoholism.

Absolutely not. I drink at least 3 beers a night, and I am not an alcoholic.

No, that is not. Unless you drink straight from the bottle, and frequently. If you care for the taste, then no, you are fine.

Absolutely not, if you drank the whole bottle every night, then maybe, but not just a couple of glasses

Not even close. One glass of red wine a day is actually good for you.

Technically yes, you are an alcoholic

The moment it becomes habitual it's alcoholism.

I have a couple of acquaintances who are very heavy drinkers. It doesn't matter if you drink alone or with others. Alcoholism is alcoholism. One - three drinks though? I don't think that is pushing it. Half to a whole bottle is something you may have to worry about... If your that worried ask your doctor. Personally, I think you are ok. Enjoy your dinner & wine!
