Question about alcoholism?
my 37 year old niece is an alcoholic. She is homeless and staying with me with her 15 year old daughter. She refuses to get help, saying she likes to be drunk. Lately when she's drunk, she starts saying nasty things about people, me in particular, the one who gives her a place to live. She says when she is drunk, the truth comes out, is this actually true, because if she really feels the things she says, she is going to have to leave

Where can I find information about alcoholism treatment programs, doctors, professional people who will help? We live in LA, CA. My brother is alcoholic he had family, kid and because of the alcoholism he lost everything what he had. I need to find a doctor good one who will help to him to became a normal person this is a first time when he asked for help . Please recommend me a professional doctor who will help us with this problem.
Question about alcoholism: If someone was on a drinking binge, is it normal for him to sweat in his sleep?
He constantly sweats, every night. Even if he didn't drink that day. LIke it's still in his system and he has to sweat it out. I don't know if it's possible to sweat it out, but I'm just looking for reasons that he may be sweating like that. I can only think of it being because of his alcoholism.He really does go a day, sometimes two, without drinking. It's whenever I'm around that he doesn't. I have seen him drink, don't get me wrong. It's just that he keeps it at a real minimum when I'm there. But when I'm not there, look out. He told me last night he'd do the 30 meetings in 30 days. But I know he tends to tell me things I want to hear.
I need someone (ie nurse/dr or close enough)about alcoholism....?
My father in law was taken to the hospital unresponsive about a month ago. He had been drinking and the following afternoon he had vomited while passed out in his bed. My mother in law heard him choking and since she knew that he was choking on his vomit she called 911 and they brought him in. At 1pm his BAL was 236 equivelant to abround .2% from what I'm told He had alot of vomit in his lungs and I guess they had to give him CPR twice and the last time he almost didn't come around...he had been sedated for over a week while he detoxed . When he woke he said that he had only a few drinks. Apparently a nurse had been Rxing him 3 different types of depression pills a Dr at the hospital explained she shouldn t have and the pills she was giving him she himself wouldn't have Rxed. My FIL seems to think that it was the pills that put him in the hospital. We all know he has a major drinking problem abnd the last 2 3 months have been particularly bad. I know what effects the pills will have on him, especially while drinking...what I am not sure of is....he says he only had a few drinks. How can this be if his alcohol level was 236 at 1 pm the next afternoon ??? I know the BAL doesn't go down comptley if someone is maintaining that high by drinking everyday...but he seems to think the pills made his alcohol level go up...I say its impossible. Can someone tell me what the blood test will show, and if the level is effected by pills or is it strictly alcohol? ANY advise will help. He seems to be fixed on the pills was the problem attitude when really, he has a drink problem. I want to know if he is in denial and trying to displace the responcibility?
I have a question about alcoholism/general addiction...?
I'm 19 years old, 5'10" and very slender. Last night I drank 1 1 2 cups of pure rum the bottle said it was 40% proof . I wasn't looking to get plastered, but based on my body mass and the fact that I can count the number of times I've drank on one hand...and never more than a glass of wine that should have given me at least a little buzz, right?I was trying to see how much I can drink and it not effect me. Not that I would ever try to drink and drive or anything like that. But, what I drank last night made no difference. I was with a friend and she said that she also noticed no difference in my behaviour or demeanour.Is alcoholism hereditary? Looking at my family, it would seem so. On my dad's side of the family, every single man is or was an alcoholic...a few my dad and uncle were are also drug addicts. It's how my dad died. On my mom's side, though, there's none. My mother says that I have an addictive personality and I know that when it comes to alcohol I need to be careful but, well, do you see where I'm coming from here? It kind of worries me that what I drank last night seemed to have no effect on me. That's how my dad was...it took a lot to get him drunk, but he always seemed to manage it. But he had been drinking since he was 12. By the time I came along, he was an experienced drinker...more use to it, so it would obviously take him more. I never drink though.

I have a project, and the story is about a guy who gets murdered for trying to stop a bar fight he was killed by an alcoholic. . We are supposed to pick a song that goes along with our project. is there any songs out there about stuff like this or about alcoholism. Any suggestions? Thanks
Does anyone know a good monologue about alcoholism?
I need some inspiration for my final piece in drama, in which i'm playing an alcoholic. I have to do a serious monologue at one point and if anyone knows about a good monologue that deals with this theme i would really appreciate the help
